Caregiving in the U.S. 2025: Caring Across States
National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP, October 2025
Released just in time for National Family Caregivers Month, a new companion report to Caregiving in the U.S. 2025—Caring Across States—offers valuable insights to help raise awareness about family caregiver needs in your state. The report presents state-level data on the number of family caregivers and highlights significant differences in financial strain, caregiving intensity, and available supports across all 50 states and D.C. It also compares the percentage of caregivers in each state who say respite would be helpful with those who actually use respite services. Read the full report and State Data Briefs.
To effectively use the state information in this new report, the National Alliance for Caregiving has updated its Caregiving in the US 2025 Toolkit. Make use of State Specific Media Graphics.
