Important Dates:

  • Letter of Intent Due Date: March 12, 2026 by 5 PM ET
  • Full Proposal Due Date (for applicants whose LOI is accepted): May 21, 2026 by 5 PM ET
  • Anticipated Project Dates: September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027

The StARS Center supports projects that advance the provision, evaluation, and accessibility of dementia care services at the state level.

In 2026, up to two Dementia Care Innovation Grants will be funded with up to $110,000 in total costs (including direct and indirect costs) per project.

Grantees will receive:
• Funding to support research and innovation in dementia care services
• Support from StARS Center scientists and research staff through virtual meetings, direct consultations, and feedback on interim results and study progress

Applications from a range of eligible organizations, including state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, and tribal governments, are encouraged.

Priority will be given to proposals from organizations engaged in statewide dementia services coordination. Applications from states new to the StARS network are highly encouraged.
