House Appropriations Subcommittee to Consider the FY 2025 Labor-HHS-Education Funding Bill on June 27, 2024

Next week, on June 27, 2024, the House Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee will consider the FY 2025 appropriations bill for programs in its jurisdiction. The National Respite Coalition is requesting $20 million for the Lifespan Respite Care Program, the amount requested by the our bipartisan House champions, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), and 8 other Members of the House in their recent letter to the House Appropriations Committee.

The NRC is also requesting increased funding for the National Family Caregiver Support program (NFCSP).

ACTION: Grassroots action is the most important way to ensure increased funding for Lifespan Respite and other critical programs.

  • Contact your Representative Right Away. Call your Representative at 202-225-3121 and when connected to the office, ask for health, disability or appropriations staff. If you don’t reach them, leave a message!
  • MESSAGE: Urge your Representative to support $20 million for the Lifespan Respite Care Program and meaningful increases for the NFCSP in the FY 2025 House Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations bill. Strengthening the Lifespan Respite Care Program and NFCSP perfectly align with the Administration for Community Living’s National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers that calls for a range of respite options to meet family caregivers’ unique needs.
  • Contact your U.S. Senators. The Senate is expected to consider their bill in July. Dates of action are uncertain, but it is never too early to contact your Senators and urge them to support $20 million for the Lifespan Respite Care program in the Senate Appropriations bill.
