Idaho’s Lifespan Family Caregiver Action Plan

This plan, developed by the Idaho Family Caregiver Alliance, is the product of countless hours of research, outreach, deliberation, and problem solving. It reflects the voice of thousands of often invisible Idaho caregivers and others. The plan is intended to create awareness among policy makers and others and is intended to stimulate dialogue and encourage movement toward an improved environment for Idaho family caregivers. As described in the plan, a perfect storm is brewing, generated by demographic shifts, advances in health care, economic challenges experienced by caregiving families, and the desire to live and age in the community. The system as it is currently configured cannot address the pressure these changes generate. Idaho must look ahead to what can be done proactively to support caregivers and deflect the catastrophe that might well occur if we do not.
